It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Mrs.
Marisela Pedroza. I had the joy of having my daughter Shannon in her preschool
class last year. My daughter was in a class of 20 where Mrs. Mari was the lead
teacher and there was also an assistant in the classroom. My daughter had the most
wonderful preschool year ever and is very well prepared to start kindergarten this
August. My only regret is that Mrs. Mari will not be going to kindergarten with her!
Mrs. Mari has opened her own preschool from home and I had the pleasure of
touring "God's Precious Angels Preschool" recently at an open house. I was very
impressed. The classroom looks just like the classroom my daughter attended last
year, only this is better. The ration will be 1:5. I can't even begin to tell you how
much more your children will be kindergarten ready by attending her preschool,
especially with such a wonderful teacher to student ratio and such an intimate
setting. My daughter attended preschool 3 days a week in Mrs. Mari's morning
session last year and she learned a great deal academically, physically, emotionally,
and socially. A 5 day a week school could only enhance the wonderful lessons learned
at this sweet age of a child.
Mrs. Mari is a wonderful teacher. She has a very calm and soothing demeanor. I
had the opportunity to be a "parent helper" several times last year and I was
amazed at the command she had over a class of 20 four and five year olds with only
1 assistant. The class was very well structures into many different time
appropriate segments and it all flowed very smoothly. She would warmly greet each
child in the morning and give the child a choice of the greeting they would receive (a
handshake, a smile or a hug) by letting the child point to one of the decorative cards
depicting each greeting. The child would then say goodbye to their parent, hang up
their backpack, find their name tag and take it to the easel to "sign-in." You would
be amazed at how quickly your child's signature improves with this daily practice.
The child would then choose a seat and have some free art time or continue to
practice writing their name.
Once everyone was signed in, there would be roll call. All the children would sit on the floor, and Mrs. Mari would
hold up a name card and ask "who's name is this?" Most children will recognize thier own name, but I found it
amazing that my child could recognize all of her classmates names by sight into her third month of preschool. Mrs.
Mari would ask her students if they would like a job for the day during role call, and if the child accepted, the child
would then place their name tag on the job board. Mrs. Mari instilled manners during this session and politely
reminded children to say, "Yes, please," or "No, thank you." Children chose jobs such as line leader, caboose, light
helper, door holder, flag helper, prayer leader, hand sanitizer, and a few others. The children loved having this
responsibility. My daughter always looked forward to the days she was able to choose a job and int was the first
thing I heard about when I picked her up. The children were also responsible for taking their name tags to all
different areas of the class during the day. I noticed several time that if a child forgot his or her name tag, often
a classmate would notice, recognize the name tag left behind and remind the child who left if behind to go get their
name tag. Again, the children were recognizing their classmates names throughout the day.
The preschool day consisted of circle time with stories, singing (Mrs. Mari has a lovely voice and sometimes plays
guitar too!) and using sign language at times. New letters and numbers were introduced each week and the children
got to take turns writing the new date on the calendar. There was free time where children chose their activity
for that time period. Mrs. Mari also used an effective method of discipline, the stop light. If a child did not
behave or redirect inappropriate behavior as suggested, their name would be moved to yellow light and eventually
red light. If this occurred, the parent was informed at the end of the day and the child lost some of their free
time. My daughter was so fond of free time, she promised that she'd never move to yellow light. This works at
home too! Mrs. Mari also taught children how to pitch in and clean up. She would play a clean up song and it was
amazing! The room would go from children playing and laughing to a bunch of little busy bees cleaning as soon as the
first few notes of that song played! The children also had guided outside playtime with games appropriate to
stimulate fine tuning of large and small muscle movements. The children also did learning worksheets, science
experiment, participated in making foods, and did lots of crafts. Safety was also discussed. The children learned
their addresses and phone numbers, basic fire safety and also dialing 911.
Mrs. Mari goes above and beyond the curriculum. There were many heartwarming events such as a Thanksgiving
re-enactment by the children, performed in costumes that were made in class. The children had a wonderful
Thanksgiving Day feast and they all chipped in to make a pumpkin pie, which turned out to be very delicious. The
children also performed songs for a winter performance, dressed as children of the world, showcasing their
English, Spanish and Signing abilities. Valentine's Day was a special party and the children enjoyed exchanging
valentines. The children were often visited by workers of different professions. My daughter particularly
enjoyed a Cinco de Mayo celebration in which a chef came in and helped them make pico de gallo. My personal
favorites were a Daddy Day Camp and Mother's Day Tea, both events honoring the parents. It was a truly special
day for my daughter and for the parents.
Choosing the right preschool for your child is a very important decision. I truly feel that starting the early
educational years with Mrs. Mari will provide your child with a solid, well rounded foundation, in a nurturing
environment that is only second best to your own home. I would be more than happy to answer any questions for any
prospective parent looking into Mrs. Mari's preschool
Sincerely,
Collleen Donahue, RN

I want to say thank you for loving my child. The hardest thing for a parent to do is pass their child on to someone
else, and you have made this experience a pleasant one. I have always felt like you have actually loved Ethan.
It takes a special person to be a teacher. Especially to teach a classroom of 4 year olds. I am amazed at the
things that Ethan has learned this year. He knows his phone number. He reads letters EVERYWHERE WE GO. He
says rhymes and sings songs that you have taught him. He talks about God and Jesus, and tells me bible stories he
has learned from you. It is amazing that 6 hours a week has produced so much learning. That is all because of you.
I also want to thank you for the special moments. For the parties that we have been invited to. Thank you for
the special gifts that you have given us parents. My husband treasures the music CD you made for Father's Day. I
will always treasure the handprint and angel poem you gave us for Mother's Day. Not to mention the pictures you
have made and shared with us.
It makes me very sad to say good bye to you and even sadder to have to explain to Ethan that he will not be in
your class anymore. He truly loves you both. We attend Radiant Church, and for the past three months, he has
been fighting us when we get to the preschool on Sunday because he wants to go to "Mrs. Mari's class."
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much, and I hope you both continue teaching because I believe God gave
you both a special gift.
God Bless,
The Scales Family

Dear Marisela,
I wanted to write and thank you for playing such an important role in our lives over the last year. For taking
Bella (and her nervous mommy) under your wing and helping us make the transition, encouraging us along the way and
helping Bella grow and thrive.
The changes we have witnessed in Bella in such a short period of time are so amazing. We owe a huge debt of
gratitude to you for the love and commitment you have given our daughter, just as you give to all of the children.
You have such a big heart, so much warmth and compassion that shines through in each and every interaction you
have with the children, and they respond to that.
Your respect and understanding of Bella's personality has meant so much to me. She was never pushed, but
always included and encouraged, which is a huge part of her social growth. You allowed her to blossom and grow on
her own terms and in her own time - which is such a precious gift, and one we will always remember.
We are broken hearted to be loosing you as a teacher, it is a loss that all the students will feel. Whoever steps
into your position has some big shoes to fill! We wish you the best of luck in the future, perhaps our paths will
cross again one day!
Love,
Jeanett LeBlanc
